Modern computers are rarely equipped with an RS-232 serial port. However, many older devices still require this connection for communication or firmware updates.
The solution is a USB-to-RS-232 adapter.
A USB-to-RS-232 adapter allows you to connect legacy serial devices to a computer through a standard USB port. For example, you can use it with a RS-232 null modem cable or a mini RS-232 to 3.5 mm null modem cable.
To use the adapter, you must install the appropriate driver on your computer. In most cases, Windows 10 and newer versions of Windows will automatically detect the adapter and install the required driver. However, if you are using Windows 7, Windows XP, or if Windows cannot find the correct driver automatically, you will need to install it manually.
